Our New Video.
Ok, here’s the deal with our new video. We shot this a while ago for a track that we’ve decided to release on 7” vinyl single. This will be released only on digital & vinyl. The records look really cool (see the post below for more info on the release itself). The video was a tough decision. We want this particular little release to be for you guys! Videos are kind of something we’re known for, so I wanted to make sure we had one for at least one of these songs. I know we have a legacy of strange & crazy videos, and boy does this one not let down.
But, here’s where you guys come in: I’ve decided to release this guy as DIY as possible. We talked about different avenues for premiering this thing, and some of them sounded pretty cool AND we were offered some cool ideas that decided to decline. Because I want to prove that our fans ARE REALLY AWESOME! So, this is going to be on you guys, we’ve put a lot of money into making our next LP as great as it can be, so we really don’t have the $ to promote this little release like crazy… but luckily we live in an age where we don’t have to! So here’s the deal… next week I’m going to post the video to youtube & embed the video on a secret website. I will send a link to this site out on the idy twitter account. At first this video will be private and ONLY available to those who have the link! THEN I’m going to make it public & from there I only ask that you guys do whatever you can to promote this thing for us; even if it’s as simple as retweeting it &/or posting it on your facebook wall. If you want to go further & help us even more (and we REALLY HOPE you do), post it on your own & other people’s blogs, your friends’ walls, add it anywhere you can, send links out in emails / comments on music websites. Please do anything you can. My goal is to see this thing make some noise on youtube, enough noise that we either get top honors or appear in the popular tab! I think we can do this. I have a lot of faith in you guys. I know we don’t have the biggest fanbase in the world, but we have an awesome one that can help us pull this off! IF we make it, I promise to give away some free music. AND, if you Tweet me some photos of you going the extra mile for us, I may just mail you some great treats!
I’ve had several industry people scoff & say this is a dumb idea, but I have the utmost faith in you guys! So, this truly is my plea hoping you guys will join me in making one of the dumbest videos I’ve ever been a part of, one of our biggest. Godspeed.

I realize that our new record has been talked about forever & ever now, and we’ve leaked a few things here & there as a means to keep you guys on the hook. I appreciate the fact that so many of you have stayed on… so much so that I want to do something special for those of you who have stuck around. Long story short, our new record truly is nearly finished. Like for REAL this time 8O . Like, in all seriousness, maybe mixing 2 more versions of songs and then choosing the tracks that actually go on that guy (all within the next 2 weeks). I know there’s a lot of questions surrounding this album, and I promise I will answer those in the coming weeks & months leading up to finally releasing it. What I will say is I assume/hope this record will attract some new fans, and lure people back that kinda forgot about us. That being said, I wanted to create something special & somewhat exclusive for those of you who have not forgotten, not bailed, and were enlightened enough to listen to us back in the day!
I realize most of you are smart enough to realize what I wrote in the prior paragraph means there’s at least a few more months until you have any actual music in your hands from LP#2. So… I decided to put up my own money and release a special 7” to those of you who might want that sort of thing. The tracks on it are songs that I wrote during some of the first sessions for this record, and they WILL NOT appear on the full length. This 7” is the only release these tracks will live on. That’s not to say that I like those songs less or anything, they just don’t necessarily fit, and for crazy legal reasons I actually cannot put them on the full length.
THEY ARE songs that you will hear in our live sets at any upcoming shows (maybe you’ve already heard one of them), and we shot a video for one of the tracks (See the post above this for more info on that). The bottom line with this release is that I did this for you guys, and also partly because I’ve always wanted something I wrote released on vinyl! IF this does well enough I would love to see Black Skye putting out more vinyl. I wanted to make sure this was special to you so I put this release together myself: I did the cover photography, graphics, and all of the crazy label related stuff (This is Black Skye’s first VINYL release!) on top of producing & performing everything on it myself. I had these pressed with random marbled colors, in other words there are no two that look alike and each one is unique. Most turned out with this really cool purple/black mix to them. They ARE a limited pressing. They WILL NOT be pressed again. They DO look & sound sweet. AND, each one is stamped with a code to download super hi-res MP3’s of the tracks (and some bonus videos)!
Oh yeah, and this guy is/will be available on the road, & at Amazon (for some weird reason they list it as a CD, but it IS vinyl, there are no CDs of this release), Interpunk, Smartpunk, The new Black Skye Store, and the also new & sweet Official Idy Shoppe.
